I have seen Lymphoma of both types running in families but staying in the same sex. Such as mothers and daughters, fathers and sons. It can cross the sex gender but from what I have observed it seems to stay in the same gender if seemingly, genetic.
The medical studies in general will state it is not genetic but environment, and since families are exposed to the same it is thus found.
Non Hodgkins, seems to be found in clusters. There are 2 large clusters in the US. One is in New England and the other is found in Western Pennsylvania. The caseload is high. The New England site is farmland, the Pennsylania site sprays their electrical lines with weed killers, and has numerous radio towers which are directly in the area with homes.
In 2004, studies was done correlating the HODGKIN LYMPHOMA and MS. They both are autoimmune disease and react the same way in the body.
Researchers say the diseases share many characteristics, which have prompted many to suspect that they may have a common environmental or physical cause. For example, both emerge in young adulthood, have been associated with socioeconomic affluence, and tend to cluster within families.
The study showed that the risk of Hodgkin’s lymphoma was nearly twice as high among close relatives of people with multiple sclerosis. Similarly, the risk of MS was more than doubled in relatives of people with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
I have asked myself a million times what I have done to get Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. I know of one person who is in the medical field whose child has Hodgkins Lymphoma. Their neighbors would have a lawn care service come in and take care of their lawn, spraying with weed killers and bug killing products. Their house sat higher than the side of the road whose child had got Lymphoma and they started to wonder about the water that would run into their downstairs rooms. The father decided to have it tested, and found the residue which would ultimately, dry into a white substance was actually, herbicides and pesticides.
After finding this out, they decided not to continue taking chances and they sold their house and moved.
I have been having the same problem here with water running into my basement. My neighbor’s house sits higher than mine, since the township keeps repaving the road without taking any pavement off, and when it rains it pours in. I have asked my neighbor to refrain from chemicals and she has obliged. Yet, I wonder how long those chemicals, which she did have trucked in also, through a lawncare service, will continue on in the ground, thus making its way into my home.
I have a neighbor on the side of me, who sprays the outside of his home for God’s knows what, and when I asked him to refrain explaining my health probems and my concerns, it could care less. He told me, to close my windows. Sometimes, you just can’t win them all.
What is amazing, is his age, he is in his 90’s, health as a horse, whereas, I have been sick mostly my entire life. At age 44, the real battle was waged, with the diagnosis of Lymphoma.
